Expressions of interest are being sought from community members to join a Litchfield Council Community Reference Group to review the governance arrangements for managing Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve (FPSRR) in partnership with the Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve Board (FPSRR Board).

Litchfield Council Mayor Maree Bredhauer said, the Community Reference Group will assist Council with the review of current governance arrangements, the development of a position paper for stakeholder consultation, review of submissions and finally, adoption of an agreed governance arrangement.

“The review is to ensure Council and the Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve Board continues to provide a successful and inclusive service to the community. To achieve this, the review will aim to ensure that strong and transparent accountability measures are included in the governance arrangements which will provide clarity for any expenditure of public funds.” the Mayor said.

The Community Reference Group will meet a number of times between March and June 2020, providing Council with recommendations on the principles for the governance arrangement that will improve collaboration, best practice management options, and a transparent funding structure.

There will be opportunities for the broader community to provide feedback throughout the review process.
