Litchfield Mayor Allan McKay opened the 31st Community Rural Carols at Bees Creek Primary School on Saturday. The event which began in 1982 had a vision to bring the community together, an opportunity to join each other, to celebrate and enjoy our community spirit.

It started at Freds Pass and then moved to the Village Green at Humpty Doo, last year the event outgrew the Village Green and moved to Bees Creek Primary School.

A collaboration of the Rural Churches establish a committee group to organise the annual event, they estimated over 1,000 people attended this year's which was emceed by Grant Fenton from the Northern Territory Farmers Association. School and adult groups sang carols into the night whilst families and children gathered to join the fun, shine their candles and sing carols. The Country Women's Association and Humpty Doo Girl Guides served food and drinks during the magnificent night.
