Permits to Burn are required by the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service year round in the rural area. Permits to Burn are available to Darwin/Rural Landholders from 8am Monday 25th Novemeber 2013 - 6pm April 2014. Contact your local Fire Station or Volunteer Fire Brigade for inspections and issuing of Permits to Burn. Neighbours must be notified at least 48 hours before applying for a Permit to Burn. Clear identification of lot numbers would be appreciated by the Fire and Rescue Services. The Northern Territory Fire and Rescus Service encourage all landholders to consider alternatives to burning wherever possible.
