The Territory Budget and recognition of Litchfield Municipality in Parliament during NT Budget sittings this week highlighted the future for the residents of Litchfield.

The NT budget announced over $24 million is to be invested in the rural area.  The growth of the rural area is evident and gratefully accepted with the NT Government releasing funding for many areas in the Municipality, including the Regional Hospital at Holtze;

  • Darwin Correctional Precinct – complete headwork’s for the new correctional facility

  • Hospital scoping study and master plan for the Greater Darwin region

  • Drainage upgrades in the rural area to support development

  • Preliminary planning and construction works for the Palmerston Regional Hospital

  • Humpty Doo Regional Centre – upgrade of headworks infrastructure to support development of private land

  • Facilitate the release of land for residential and commercial development

Litchfield Municipality is currently thriving, an ideal location to raise a family with future employment opportunities for our youth with developments already underway including the Livingstone Abattoir, Coolalinga development, the new prison at Holtze and the Ichthys LNG project incorporating the accommodation village at Howard Springs and the gas processing plant at Blaydin Point. All these offer significant economic benefits to the rural residents. It's exciting, the rural area is on the rise and NT Government is assisting with funding towards the future services and needs for of our growing population.
