In early 2018, Council commenced the Freds Pass Road Realignment Project.

Freds Pass Road between Strangways Road and Beaumont Road in Humpty Doo was identified as presenting a high risk to motorists, due to the severity of the sweeping bend, causing vehicle rollover and crash history reports.

A Road Opening Notice seeking public comments was advertised in July 2018.

The current work commencing Thursday 7 February to be carried out under the Contract comprises the realignment of the 300-metre section of Freds Pass Road in Humpty Doo, which includes:

  • Pavement construction
  • Open drain construction
  • Relocations of electrical infrastructure

This section of road will have a reduced speed limit for the duration of the works and motorists may experience some delay.

Road closure will be needed throughout the project and Council will advise the public prior to this taking place.

This project is funded through the Australian Government Northern Territory Blackspot Program.
