$33,000 worth of cans, bottles and car batteries

Applications are now open for almost $33,000 from recycled trash, to organisations and community groups through Litchfield Council’s Annual Community Grants Program 2019.

Community organisations can apply for a grant for up to $5,000 for projects and events that directly benefit the Litchfield community.

Litchfield Council Mayor Maree Bredhauer said Council appreciates the difficulty smaller groups face to find money for projects and events and we are pleased to partner with a diverse range of groups that work with the Litchfield Community.

“Grants are one-way Council can give eligible groups a helping hand to build on the sweat and goodwill of volunteers that in turn gives back to the community.” the Mayor said.

The initiative is taking products that the community dispose of at the transfer stations, recycling them and distributing the proceeds to the community through an application process.

A workshop will be held on Tuesday 2 April from 5.30pm – 7.30pm, where community groups and organisations can drop in to Council and receive some assistance and advice regarding the application process.

Applications for the 2019 Annual Community Grants Program close Friday 12 April 2019.

All applicants will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony to be held in June 2019, at which successful applications will be announced.
