Litchfield Council has welcomed a funding announcement, this time from the Labor Government committing $10 million to upgrade Freds Pass Sports and Recreation Reserve, benefiting the greater community.
Participation in outdoor sports in the rural area is increasing and Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve provides a home ground to more clubs than any other sporting precincts in the Top End.
Mayor Doug Barden said having an announcement from both parties of $10m secures the funding for Freds Pass and will provide the much-needed upgrades that will continue to serve our growing sport and recreation population.
“We have seen considerable growth in our community and are proud of the rich history of recreational participation in the rural area. This funding announcement gives Council surety that this facility will be upgraded and provide a range of opportunities that are currently not available” the Mayor said.
