Last year on the 1 June The NT Governments $50 million RecFishing program hit Litchfield with 550 Barramundi being released into McMinns Lagoon reserve.
At the time the barramundi was approximately 20cm long, and the lagoon was identified and confirmed as great aquaculture by the RecFishing program to raise the Barramundi for future recreational fishing opportunities.
Recently on social media, this picture cropped up with the caption "Allan Bone with the first barramundi caught at McMinns Lagoon reserve, the barra were put in the lagoon last July they were only about 300mm now look at the size of them, anyone can have a go at trying to catch them but must remember its catch and release congratulations, Allan".
Some responders were quick to point out that there was no way this could have grown from the fish released in July. You can find the original post here at the McMinns Lagoon Reserve Assoc Facebook page and weigh in (pun intended) to the discusion.
