It has certainly been an interesting year and it certainly is welcome to be able  to return to normal activities - visiting friends, going to club activities, visiting the library or joining in the monthly morning teas. Some of the initiatives that have been put in place during COVID isolation will remain including the ‘click and collect  program at the library.

Litchfield Council has launched its first newsletter, ‘Connecting our Community’. This will be yet another way to keep you up to date with Council programs, events, news and services. Hard copies are available, and you can subscribe to receive future editions at “Your Say Litchfield “ on our Council website. Let me know if you have not seen it or would like a hard copy.

Talking about the website, Council are in the process of updating ours. The new version will be a friendly, modern site that promotes the services and vision of Council. A ‘one stop shop’ for information about services and facilities. Keep an eye out at www.litchfield.nt.gov.au

The Annual Community Survey will be out in August. This survey is conducted each year to hear from you about Council activities and service. It helps us gauge community satisfaction and most importantly provides information for future planning. Please keep a watch out for this and contribute your thoughts.

Recently Council awarded $26,868 to clubs and community organisations as part of the Community Grants program for projects and events around the municipality. Congratulations to the recipients who included sporting groups, Top End Rehoming, Rural Carols by Candlelight, Rotary, Community Arts and the Craft & Quilting group.

Another exciting addition to our community  is the ‘Get Active in Litchfield’ COVID recovery program of activities at our Reserves.  There are over 20 different activities that will run between mid-July and September including a ‘walking group’ on a Thursday at our beautiful McMinns Lagoon. The walks will be hosted each week by a local identity. It’s an easy paced walk catering for all. Hope you can join us.

As always, I am keen to connect with residents. You can contact me via email Maree.bredhauer@litchfield.nt.gov.au or ph. 8983 0612.
