Welcome to Asche and the Litchfield municipality. This page includes information about essential Council services and links to help you get started, including services and requirements that are unique to Asche.
Waste Management
Asche residents receive one general waste bin, with weekly collection.
To request your waste bin, please complete the Waste Bin Request Form below. Please allow up to 10 days for your bin to be delivered.
Residents can also use Council's Waste Transfer Stations:
- Humpty Doo Waste Transfer Station (225 Strangways Road)
- Howard Springs Waste Transfer Station (16 Howard Springs Road)
- Berry Springs Waste Transfer Station (745 Cox Peninsula Road)
All Waste Transfer Stations are open 7 days a week from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm and are closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.

Dog Registration
All dogs living in the Litchfield municipality must be microchipped and registered with Litchfield Council. Dog registrations are valid from 1 September to 31 August each year.
Asche is a declared Dog Restriction Area. Residents may keep up to two dogs without a Dog License; however, each dog must be microchipped and registered with Council. A Dog Licence must be obtained from Council before keeping the additional dogs. To obtain a Dog Licence Application Form, please contact Litchfield Council.
If you move to Asche with a dog that is currently registered with Coomalie Council, City of Darwin, or City of Palmerston, you can transfer the registration to Litchfield Council free of charge under the reciprocal registration agreement. Simply complete a Litchfield Council Dog Registration Form and provide evidence of your current registration.

Council Rates
Council issues rate notices in August each year. Litchfield Council's rating year commences 1 July and concludes 30 June.
Payments can be made either:
- 30 September 2026 – Full Payment or 1st instalment
- 30 November 2026 – 2nd instalment
- 28 February 2027 – 3rd and final instalment
