Have Your Say: Meade Road Realignment and Blackmore River Access Review
We are seeking feedback from the community and key stakeholders on the Meade Road Realignment and Blackmore River Access Review in the area of Darwin River.
About the proposal
Council is considering a proposal to:
- Close part of the existing Meade Road (west) paper road reserve near the Blackmore River
- Open a new road alignment within Crown Land, with no plans for construction
- Potentially allowing the adjoining landowner to purchase the closed paper road reserve land (Council-owned) and adjoining Crown land adjacent to the riverbank, subject to approvals.
The area under consideration is currently used by a range of stakeholders, including nearby residents, recreational fishers and the broader community. This engagement process is designed to better understand how the area is used and identify any potential impacts, concerns or opportunities associated with the proposal.
Feedback gathered during this process will inform planning and help ensure that community values, local knowledge and community interests are considered in Council’s decision-making.
