Have your say on how your local council area is represented
The NT Local Government Representation Review is looking at whether council representation still works fairly for communities across the Territory.
This includes reviewing:
• council boundaries – which council area you live in
• wards and ward boundaries – which councillors you vote for
• the number of councillors representing each area
• ward names
The review is being undertaken by an independent committee made up of the NT Electoral Commissioner, the NT Surveyor-General and the CEO of the Local Government Association of the NT.
Why does your feedback matter? Maps and population figures cannot always show how people live, travel, access services or connect with nearby communities. Local knowledge helps the Committee understand what works, what does not and how any proposed changes could affect residents.
The Committee will consider community submissions before making recommendations to the Minister for Local Government. No changes have been decided.
