In the last three months Council have seen a decrease in the amount of recycling and a subsequent increase in the amount of material going to landfill. Residents are encouraged to separate their recyclables from general waste to reduce the amount of material going to landfill. This will reduce costs to the ratepayers and help the environment.
Council has reactivated its Risk Management and Audit Committee in an effort to improve its governance and risk management generally. The committee provides an independent oversight of council’s risk management practices, internal controls and finances. Management will be developing an internal audit program based on identified risks for presentation to the committee.
On Wednesday 26 August I had the pleasure to attend the Young Territory Author of the Year Awards and present a certificate to the winner of the Litchfield region, Patrick Irwin. Patrick’s book “Everybody’s Uncle” is available for loan at the Casuarina Library.
