I'd like to welcome Ben Dornier to the position of acting Chief Executive Officer of Litchfield Council, following the departure of previous CEO Iian Wilson on 11 May.
Ben has extensive experience in local government, as the Director of Corporate and Community Services for City of Palmerston.
Recruitment for a permanent CEO will soon get underway, with the final decision to be made when an elected council is back in place.
My ongoing investigation into the council is continuing, and I am on track to provide my final recommendation and report to the Minister by 30 June.
Thousands of people visited the Freds Pass Rural Show on the weekend. This event highlighted everything the Litchfield municpality has to offer, and it was wonderful to see so many people attend. Thanks to the show committee and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the show a success.
Last week was National Volunteer Week, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those who volunteer throughout our community. In particular, thank you to our recreation reserve committee members, our volunteer fire brigades, and the many organisations and individuals who give up their time for community events such as Australia Day.
Road works have commenced for the Girraween and Anglesey Roads roundabout project. While all efforts will be made to keep works to a minimum during peak periods, delays may be expected. I urge road users to plan their journey carefully and allow extra time where possible. Visit www.litchfield.nt.gov.au for the latest project updates.
