Green Waste
The three waste transfer stations are receiving too much green waste. The current rate charges does not include the processing of green waste, so the more we receive the more labour is required to process it. Council are seeking your feedback on how council can approach this concern.
NBN Rolls Out
Last week I visited Tropical Primary Products, a 500 acre Lambells Lagoon property and business for 27 years, growing and exporting mangoes, durian, jack fruit and pomelo. Mr Han Shiong Siah and his family own the property and business and welcomed myself along with the Honourable Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and M2 Director Steve Wick to their farm as they were the first Territorians to switch on to the Top Ends NBN. The NBN fixed wireless service is now live in parts of Berry Springs, Darwin River, Fly Creek North, Lambells Lagoon, Livingstone South, Noonamah East, Southport and Wagait Beach. Mr Siah was first to sign up with iPrimus (M2) who are a proactive service provider already offering high speed internet service to households and businesses in the rural area since NBN became available.
Anzac Day Service
There are two services in Humpty Doo tomorrow; a 06:00am Dawn service commencing at the Humpty Doo Golf Club with the 1st Armoured Regiment from Robertson Barracks and a 09:00am service at Humpty Doo Village Green Cenotaph organised by The Lions Club of Litchfield Inc in conjunction with Litchfield Council.
Federal Election
The Federal Election is five months away (14th September) and I have already begun talking with political candidates for the area of Litchfield. I have been discussing the six bridges in the Municipality and a child care facility at Berry Springs. Please start sending your requests to either the candidate or myself and I can pass it on to them, the only time in the next four years that they will listen to us, is when they need our votes, so start writing to them now. If you need to talk to me about it then come in and have a chat, from little things big things grow.
