As a major sponsor of the 39th Freds Pass Rural Show it was great to see so many families enjoy the event. I was pleased to have the opportunity to be involved in many of the shows activities and spend some time at the Litchfield Council site talking with residents.

The 2018 Community Survey is currently open and we want to hear from as many residents as possible. The survey works to gather valuable data about Council services and facilities and is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts on how the Council is fairing. Once collected Council will use the survey results to assess community satisfaction, areas for improvement and better understand community needs. The survey can be taken on Your Say Litchfield online and if you register you can go into the draw to win 1 of 4 $250 fuel vouchers.

Once again the Litchfield Community Grants Scheme is open for applications. The scheme turns recycled cans and batteries into cash for the community. The scheme aims to support community projects and activities, strengthen community relationships and enhance the well-being of Litchfield residents. Grants of up to $5000 are available to community groups. More details are available on the website.

Draft Municipal Plan and Budget 2018-2019 has been out for public comment and thank you to all those residents who have contributed so far. The plan is a comprehensive document that outlines the draft Budget, rates, activities Council will focus on, new initiatives and capital projects for the coming year.

Some key highlights in the Plan include $7.75m commitment to continuing to work needed to maintain and renew road assets; $826,000 in direct funding to the seven Recreation Reserves in the Litchfield Council area and $236,000 on new initiatives program that contributes to the long-term financial sustainability of Council.
