Australia Day will have a new home at the Freds Pass market shed for 2023. The move is inspired by a larger program and future-proofing the event by allowing for program and stallholder growth at the new location. Locals may know the covered area as the home of the Freds Pass Markets, and now it will also be the destination for the Australia Day celebrations and the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, and Australia Day Awards.
The Rotary will be back with a vengeance providing a *FREE* BBQ Breakfast from the shed and there will barista made coffee for sale to kick start your day for the fun run, with registrations from 7:00 am and a proposed start time of 7:30 am so limber up Litchfield!
The shed will also house a 22-metre inflatable obstacle course and a petting zoo to keep the young ones busy whilst the adults indulge in some retail therapy with local market stalls lining the perimeter of the event. Expect art stalls, botanical plants sales, fashion offerings, Indigenous arts and crafts, local handmade objects and naturally made dog treats to name a few.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day and Litchfield's newest citizens will pledge their commitment to their new home (Australia, not the market shed) on the main stage.
To confirm your attendance or set a reminder for the big day you can mark your attendance on the Litchfield Australia Day Facebook event here.
The 2023 Australia Day event is assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council and the Australia Day Council NT.
