In March 2025 Council made the decision to relocate the Litchfield Community Library from its current location at Taminmin College to a more accessible location. Whilst the primary aim is to eventually have the library located at 320 Arnhem Highway, the current arrangements are less than ideal and limit access to the facility for many in the community.

The relocation of the library, expected to be completed around September 2025, will enhance accessibility for Litchfield residents, improve operational flexibility and increase community engagement. A meeting room and a consultation space will also increase community capacity and opportunities for government outreach services.

The community library will also see the commencement of library outreach programs throughout the municipality to support residents and existing programs further.

Over the following months council will move library operations to the new location and anticipate opening in Coolalinga Central by September 2025. Council will also deliver additional outreach programs as part of the new services, utilising council recreation reserves and other locations to provide programs to the community. The library remains committed to award-winning initiatives, such as valued intergenerational programs.

Current library members will get special first access and a tour of the new location as part of opening events. Council anticipates coming in under budget as some savings have already been identified.
