Well the dry season is here, great to welcome the cooler nights and lots of dry season activities.
Two big events in the rural area this month are the Freds Pass Rural Show, running over 3 days from Friday 16th May. With the big concert on the Saturday night hosting a spectacular fireworks display then headlined by the legendary Ian Moss. Our second big event for the month is the Noonamah Rodeo, with the first one of five this year held on Saturday 17th May; both excellent family events.
Raise your cup at Taminmin's Biggest Morning Tea held on Friday 9th May at Taminmin Community Library. This yearly event supports Cancer Council Australia in raising funds for a great cause, come and meet this year's special guest author of Ronan's Echo, Joanne Van Os.
Spoil your mother this Mothers Day, Sunday 11th May with a choice of events to attend. The Mothers Day Pottery Fair is held that whole weekend starting 10.00am on the Saturday at Arnhem Nursery in Humpty Doo. You can also take mum to explore the tropical grounds of Anthill Gardens in Berry Springs for their Country Garden Fair Mothers Day weekend. On Saturday 10th May Litchfield Tavern are holding their Gala on the Lawn Comedy and Chords night of laughs, music and entertainment.
May is the start of the annual Open Gardens Australia which runs through to August. This year's event hosts five rural properties, head to their website for the details of which ones to explore.
Not forgetting the weekly Coolalinga Markets held every Saturday at Freds Pass; enjoy a refreshing cold drink and delicious food whilst shopping under the shade of the big shed.
Berry Springs Markets will be held on Sunday 25th May this month with the usual stalls and the community kitchen.
Both markets have space for new stalls, a great way to earn some extra money.
Litchfield has seven Recreation Reserves used by community and sporting groups offering endless opportunities to join an activity; wether an active sport or a leisurely craft there's something for the whole family.
